Rob Sussman focuses his practice on federal and state criminal defense and family law. He is listed in SuperLawyers Magazine and Elite Lawyers, and is rated a 10 on Avvo.com, the highest rating possible.
He has practiced since 1990, including periods spent in Miami, Florida, and Washington, D.C. As a criminal defense lawyer, Rob has been lead counsel in well over sixty jury trials, ranging from DUI to murder. He has also appealed multiple cases to the Vermont Supreme Court.
He has practiced in Vermont since 2007 and has litigated cases in every county in the state. He currently holds one of eight serious felony contracts with the Vermont Office of the Defender General. In that role, he has been lead counsel in some of the most widely publicized cases in the state.
Rob graduated from Amherst College (cum laude) and the University of Michigan Law School. He has been an adjunct law professor at American University in Washington, D.C. and St. Thomas Law School in Miami, Florida. He is currently a member of the Vermont Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a former president of the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He was also on the Colchester, Vermont, Town Planning Commission.
